Buddy Holly & The Crickets – Members Reward Show
Buddy Holly & The Crickets performing at Panthers!
This Buddy Holly Tribute is a toe-tapping, hand-clapping live music extravaganza, bringing the sounds of the Rock n Roll era to life over 50 years later. This is a terrific show filled with Buddy’s greatest hits including That’ll Be The Day, Peggy Sue, Rave On, Heartbeat, Maybe Baby, Everyday and many more. Songs that inspired The Beatles and helped trigger the 60’s revolution; songs that despite their countless cover versions and enduring airplay have never lost their magic. This total music overload and dazzling show will have the whole audience “Rocking and a bopping in their seats”
The show is based on Buddy Holly’s hand chosen song list prepared for his last show at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, before his untimely death the following day on the 3rd February 1959. Don McLean calls it “The Day The Music Died”, but Dwayne says it didn’t die, Buddy’s music became immortalised from that day on.
Dwayne Elix has been performing a tribute to Buddy Holly for decades, 5 times longer than Buddy’s whole career. Ironically Dwayne started playing guitar at age 13, the same age as Buddy. One of the first song’s Buddy learnt was “Footprints In The Snow”, so did Dwayne and the first song Dwayne sung live at a show was “Peggy Sue”. And when Dwayne puts on his black 50’s style wig and thick frame glasses, there is no telling him apart from the real Buddy.
This show is a recreation of Buddy Holly & The Crickets in concert. The songs, the patter between the songs and the antics on stage will have you believing you are in the audience of the real Buddy Holly.
